BUTLER COUNTY REPUBLICAN WOMEN’S CLUB
MEETING MINUTES
May 12, 2008

General:
Call to order at 7:00 p.m. at Butler County Republican Headquarters by President Donna Irvin.
Prayer – Nancy Rogers
Pledge of Allegiance – Dorothy Roth
Board members present: Jewel Baker, Mary Beth Brown, Donna DeFazio, Agnes Harsch, Donna Irvin, Lucille Lancaster, Christine Matacic, Nicole Rapier, Nancy Rogers, Dorothy Roth, Z. Ann Rowe, Amy Updike and Marty Wright.
Members present: Carrie Calihan, Janie Cochran, Molly Dwyer, Betty Emenaker, Amanda Hundley, Carolyn Coley, Joni Jackson, Cecelia Nenni, Kathryn Rossi and Kathy Vallance.
A card was circulated for Cyndi Brown who is having health problems.
Marty Wright brought refreshments for the Club to enjoy.
Minutes: Ann Rowe moved to approve the April 14, 2008 Board Meeting Minutes as sent. Nicole Rapier seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report: Amy Updike distributed the treasurer’s report. The balance on May 10, 2008 was $6,673.07. $956.75 has been ear marked for bricks. Marty Wright moved to accept the treasurer’s report. Christine Matacic seconded the motion. Motion carried. Donna DeFazio sent out personal notes last month recruiting members; 8 became new members.

Announcements:
The BCRWC won five awards at the OFRW Spring Conference held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 in Dublin, Ohio: The Diamond Award, Cardinal Award, Media Documentation 1st Place, Campaigns 1st Place and Most Members Recruited Runner-Up.
Our club donated a Fundraising Basket to the OFRW Spring Conference Silent Auction. It was assembled by Jewel Baker and they received $75 for it.
Our Club also donated a wine rack with glasses and wine to the Lincoln Day Silent Auction. Lincoln Day was held at the beautiful Savannah Center in West Chester. Congressman John Boehner gave a moving speech about some of his experiences in Washington, D.C. and getting behind our Republican Party candidates.

Nicole Rapier donated a tote bag for a raffle which she created with the Women’s Club logo. Raffle tickets were sold for $1 each. Lucille Lancaster won the tote bag and the Club made $23 on the raffle.
Carolyn Coley announced that Bill Coley’s Red, White and Blue Fund raiser will be June 26th at their home from 5:30-8:30. She needs apple pies. If you bake a pie, you do not have to pay to attend the fund raiser. Cost is $50 per person or $100 per couple.
Kathy Vallance announced that the GOP golf outing will be held on June 30th at Wetherington.
Roger Reynolds’ fund raiser will be held on June 5th at Tori Station. The cost is $35.00.
Nicole Rapier did a wonderful job in creating the program for Lincoln Day.

Old Business:
June Picnic – June 9, 2008, 6:30 p.m. at Headquarters to be chaired by Amy Updike & Kelly Derickson. The Club will spend up to $200 on the picnic. Amy will bring grills. A sign up sheet was distributed for people to bring a covered dish. Nicole is making an invitation for the picnic, depicting our logo on the front with the invitation on the back. It will cost $1.00 for each invitation. They can also be e-mailed.
Wine & Cheese party with the wife of the Republican Presidential candidate is still to be determined. Cecelia Nenni & Z. Ann Rowe will chair this event.

New Business:
Nomination and Election of New Club Officers
Nominating Committee Appointment – As per our By-laws Article IV, Section 3 – “A nominating committee shall be appointed in May of each even-numbered year. The president shall appoint the chair of the nominating committee. The executive board shall appoint one member, and the general membership shall appoint one member. It shall be the duty of the nominating committee to nominate at least one (1) candidate for each office to be filled. The nominating committee shall make its report at the regular meeting in November of each even-numbered year.”
Agnes Harsch was appointed by the President to chair the nominating committee.
Nancy Rogers was appointed by the executive board to serve on the nominating committee.
Nicole Rapier was appointed by the general membership to serve on the nominating committee.

Nancy Rogers won the door prize.
Motion was made by Christine Matacic to adjourn the meeting, second by Dorothy Roth.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
